News of the week. 📰
ChatGPT releases its search feature. 🤯
FINALLY! OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Search, allowing ChatGPT to access the internet in real-time and mention sources rather than relying solely on its training data.
The main advantages here?
ChatGPT understands nuanced questions better than keyword-based search engines.
Instead of combing through ten blue links, ChatGPT delivers a concise, digestible answer.
—> Google has been the go-to search tool for decades, but with this release, OpenAI aims to provide a more conversational alternative.
Specific use cases for product management
Here are some practical applications for Product Managers or PMMs:
Market overview: get insights from multiple sources and a quick synthesis of your audience.
Competitor analysis: Pull up-to-date details about a competitor’s product without manual searching. (We’ll try building a few automations soon).
Trend spotting: Find recent consumer trends or industry news with a single prompt.
We’ll dive deeper into these topics in this newsletter, so keep reading!
Why it matters beyond today’s search
The release of ChatGPT Search is more than just another search tool; it’s a step toward AI agents capable not only of finding information but also of taking actions based on that information.
Here’s why that’s groundbreaking:
This is part of a larger trend in AI, where tools are moving from passive data retrieval to active problem-solving and task execution. As ChatGPT’s capabilities expand, it could act as an agent that researches the internet to find solutions to overcome its own blockers.
Traditional search engines rely heavily on keywords, but ChatGPT Search can handle complex, nuanced questions. The way we formulate queries is likely to change and be even more natural.
Tools like ChatGPT are setting the stage for more robust digital assistants, going beyond search to advising on strategic decisions. Imagine a near future where AI autonomously gathers data, synthesizes insights, and suggests actions—accelerating workflows in fields like product marketing, sales, and operations.
We’re going to continue experimenting with this feature. Get ready for a debrief in a few weeks!

How AI can help you integrate a new team faster (Part 1).
TL;DR: ✅
When you join a new team, your biggest challenge is to quickly understand the product, market trends, and competition.
AI can speed up your onboarding, turning weeks of research into just minutes.
You can use AI to dive deeper and become an non-technical expert of the tech.
This helps you make an impact right away, showing your team how fast you can get up to speed and adding value.
First impression matters.
Onboarding new PMs or PMMs takes weeks. But in reality, you'll often be hands-on much sooner, because companies expect quick impact.
Back in the day, my onboarding was a one-hour chat with the technical founders. No playbook, no deep market dive—just jump in and figure it out. It was stressful.
You want to make a great first impression, and the best way to do that is to get knowledgeable fast and speak the same language as the team.
But getting there takes time. And it's not just about analyzing the market. It's about:
Understanding the terminology.
Identifying key players.
Figuring out what really matters.
Spending hours finding reliable sources and surveys.
Extracting the 1% of insights that matter.
And after all that, you're still not sure if what you've found is accurate.
Sound familiar?
The good news: AI can now accelerate all of this 10x.
Let me you show you how. ⬇️
For this demonstration, let’s take the following scenario:
I’m a new PMM joining the AWS Product marketing team.
My main product is observability—an analytics tool that DevOps teams use to monitor their infrastructure and quickly identify and troubleshoot problems.
I need to quickly get a comprehensive understanding of:
The technology.
The main market trends and dynamics.
My competition.
And I need to get all of this knowledge in record time.
👉 In this first part, I’ll share three new prompts that have helped me cut my research time by a factor of ten (you just need to copy/paste for your own use cases).
Remember the goal here:
Instantly understanding what’s behind this complex technology.
Become familiar with the terminology used by my product team and customers.
Map out the main use cases and why this product matters
In two weeks, I’ll release part two, which will focus on competitive intelligence and market trends analysis.
#1. Instantly understanding complex technologies.
The goal here is to get a basic understanding of the observability technology. Enough to understand the main use cases, which problems this technology solves and what I should focus on.
To achieve this, I’ve created this prompt. It’s efficient, gets straight to the point, and is easy to fine-tune. ⬇️
