OpenAIβs new $200 plan π°
How you can build working apps in minutes with AI.π€―
Happy reading!
News of the week. π°
OpenAIβs Pro Plan for ChatGPT π°
OpenAI just introduced a $200/month ChatGPT Pro plan.
Thatβs a 10x leap from most people's $20 ChatGPT Plus plan.
The Pro plan includes:
OpenAI o1: Unlimited access to the best reasoning model for complex problems
GPT-4o: Unlimited access to the most used model.
Advanced Voice: Unlimited access to the text-to-speech feature.
o1 pro mode: a version of o1 that uses more computing to provide even better answers to the hardest problems.
Sora: Unlimited videos, 20s videos, 10,000 priority credits for AI text-to-video.
Why it matters
This big change marks a shift in AI assistantsβ pricing. It highlights a reality we canβt ignore: the cost of AI is rising fast.
Running tools like these isnβt cheap: compute power, maintenance, and constant updates add up.
At $20 a month, the current standard pricing (now shared by all providers) isnβt enough to cover these costs.
Now think about it:
what if your work depends on ChatGPT, and youβve grown to use it daily for your tasks? and prices suddenly spike?
Youβd be stuck.
what about API calls?
As a Product Manager, imagine your product relies on OpenAI API Calls to provide value. How would you handle a 10x increase in cost?
Your business could be in jeopardy.
There is a business rule that states:
βYour business should never rely on one provider for more than 20% of your revenueβ
You canβt let one vendor control most of your supply chain.
The same rule applies here: donβt rely on one tool for everything.
What you can do
Here is what I would do to avoid getting stuck with a pricy AI tool.
First, learn how AI works:
follow free introductive courses on AI
learn about prompt engineering
take a look at APIs and open-source models
Subscribe to The Product Courier for actionable tutorials π
Second, learn how to use AI across different platforms.
Donβt just stick to ChatGPT.
Try tools like Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Gammaβ¦
Test Open Source and local solutions.
Third, split your reliance.
Diversify to spread the risk.
Go for the best tool for each use case you have.
OpenAIβs announcement is more than a new pricing plan.
This might set a new standard for different pricing Tiers.
With the best AI features available only for high-paying users.
So, donβt blindly follow trends. Plan, adapt, and stay flexible.

Validate ideas with AI in hours, not weeks. π©π»βπ»

β
Product Managers need to validate ideas fast to stay competitive.
β Itβs a challenge: limited resources, slow processes, and lack of validation
β AI app-building tools can turn ideas into prototypes with no coding skills
β Test smarter, iterate faster, and validate to meet user needs.
Build it and they will comeβ¦not anymore
Making the right decisions fast is a key skill for Product Managers.
However, testing ideas or validating features quickly is becoming crucial in product development.
Gone are the days of siloed work where Product & Tech would build a feature over weeks/months and then release it for market validation.
βLaunch fastβ is no longer just a fancy trend. It is necessary.
But building features takes time, and design or engineering teams are already super busy. Ideas get added to the backlog, and no one knows if theyβll work until itβs too late.
The problems with fast iterations
Speed matters. Product teams often run into the same issues:
Not Enough Resources:
Engineers are busy, so thereβs little to no time to experiment.
Slow Processes:
Time to build prototypes or test landing pages is a luxury many teams donβt have.
Guesswork:
Teams sometimes put all their time into features they havenβt tested with users.
Missed Chances:
Competition moves fast, someone will step in sooner than you think.
Teams Out of Sync:
Without a simple way to test ideas, itβs easy for teams to get out of alignment.
Then came AI βtext-to-codeβ
AI app-building tools have improved significantly over the past months.
They make it easier for Product Managers to test ideas quickly.
Want to build a prototype for a feature you want to test?
Need a working feature to get user feedback to validate your idea?
Looking to create a landing page to test a new offer?
No design skills required. No coding involved.
From text prompts and conversational interactions, AI app-building tools will:
Generate the full code
Create UI designs and UX flows
Show you a working preview of the app.
And can even deploy the app online for you.
Whatβs in it for your Product team?
1. Prototypes in minutes/hours.
Create fully functional prototypes from simple conversations with AI, in minutes.
2. Fewer Developer Bottlenecks
These tools donβt require coding skills. As a PM you can build on your own.
3. Affordable Experiments
Most AI app tools are low-cost or even free for small projects.
4. Quick Updates
Tight feedback loops mean better results with less back-and-forth.
5. Test Before You Build
Check if an idea works before committing major resources.
π― Letβs build an app.
Letβs put this to the test with a real example.
Imagine youβre a Product Manager for a Team Productivity platform.
Need: Managers want a quick way to track team progress without micromanaging.
Idea: A feature where team members submit a one-line update each week, and the app compiles it into a report for the manager
Goal: Validate quickly if this lightweight reporting improves communication and transparency.
1) Prepare your initial prompt
Like any conversational AI, the quality of your input will determine the quality of the output.
You need to be clear and detailed enough to generate what you have in mind.
App-building prompt
Luckily, PMs are great at writing detailed requirements and Product Requirement Docs. I wrote a prompt where you simply copy/paste your PRD or answer a few questions.
Then AI will generate a detailed app-building prompt for you.
ππ» Get the PRD prompt here
Landing page-building prompt
You can also ask AI to build a Landing Page to test messaging or validate a feature.
I made a dedicated prompt too for you to input.
ππ» Get the Landing Page prompt here
2) Write your prompt & generate the app
Now letβs input the prompt into our AI app-building tool.
